At first I was a little disappointed that these waffles don’t have a strong pumpkin flavor. However, after a few days I realized what these waffles don’t have is a strong pumpkin pie spice flavor and I decided I don’t miss that.
Instead Trader Joe’s pumpkin waffles have a slightly earthy taste that has inspired me to try some new toppings. My favorite topping is warm cinnamon apples. Just thinly slice half an apple into a shallow bowl, cover with maple syrup and a pinch of cinnamon, and microwave for a minute or until the apples soften. Warmed pineapple and sliced bananas are also tasty toppings.
Pumpkin waffles are a seasonal item that will probably be gone by Thanksgiving. If you like these, stock up!
