I gather holiday items from Trader Joe’s to send to friends and family. Most don’t have a Trader Joe’s store nearby so these treats make unique and affordable additions to their holiday boxes.
However even your local friends, who may be regular Trader Joe’s shoppers, will appreciate a selection of tasty holiday treats.
Here are some of my favorites:
- Peppermint Cremes Candies
- Dark Chocolate Covered Peppermint Joe Joe’s Cookies
- Jingle Jangle Candy Mix
- Peppermint Pretzel Slims
- Extraordinary Bark
- Joyful Trex Mix
- Dark Chocolate Triple Ginger Chews
- Butterscotch Shortbread Wreath Cookies
- Mini Gingerbread Men Cookies
- Dark Chocolate Star Cookies
- Cranberry Bars
I was especially intrigued by The Healthy Joyful Trex Mix which contains almonds, pistachios, red and green m&m-like candies, yogurt chips and dried cranberries. The mix is packaged in an attractive tube that is the perfect size and shape for a stocking. This mix could also be part of a gift basket for a health-conscious friend along with a a box of cranberry bars, fresh or dried fruit and holiday tea.
Another interesting holiday item – The Jingle Jangle Candy Mix contains chocolate covered pretzels, chocolate covered caramel corn, red m&m-like candies, chocolate covered vanilla Joe Joe’s cookie pieces and mini peanut butter cups. This is the kind of snack that would disappear from a work place break room in minutes, but would also be a fun treat for a casual party. Divide into individual cellophane bags and tie with a ribbon for an easy party favor, lunch box treat or stocking stuffer.
Quick tip – If you see a holiday item at Trader Joe’s that interests you, buy it now. If you like it, stock up on your next trip. Seasonal products do run out so there’s no guarantee your favorites will still be available during your Christmas week shopping trip.
I’ll combine TJ’s holiday treats with a few non-seasonal items that I know each recipient likes. For example, I’ll add cashews and peanut butter crackers to my dad’s box, candied ginger and dried cherries to my sister’s box, and jam and tea to my aunt’s box. This makes each gift more personalized and reduces peppermint and chocolate overload!
Another tip – If you’re mailing gift boxes to friends and family, the USPS flat rate boxes are a good value. I usually get 6-8 items in a medium box that I can ship across the country for less than $15 including delivery confirmation and $50 insurance.
