These are fine fries, but they’re not particularly special and not comparable to what you’re likely to find at a restaurant or your favorite sporting arena. Therefore, I’m giving them a 2 pineapple rating.
These are a nice addition to a vegetarian burger, but if I’m eating a burger I feel like I should be eating a side salad or something lighter than fries. Note that although the bag says 7 servings, 4 servings is more realistic and my son and I have been known to split a bag between the two of us.
It’s a bit challenging to get the garlic sauce evenly distributed. The best way is to thaw the garlic packet in warm water, put the fries in a large bowl, squirt the garlic sauce on top and then gently toss them. Yes, this means you have a greasy bowl and a greasy baking sheet to clean up. However, I generally just put a piece of parchment paper (not wax paper!) on a baking sheet, spread out the fries, squirt the garlic sauce on top and them flip them with a spatula a couple times to distribute the sauce.
Sometimes these fries cook up nice and crispy and other times they’re a bit soggy even when cooked at the same time and temperature. I suspect this means they thawed out a bit in the freezer case or on the way home in the car.
If you like garlic fries, you’ll probably enjoy these. You can make them especially decadent by sprinkling on some cheese (grated parmesan or crumbled blue cheese work well). If you’d prefer something a bit different and somewhat more nutritious, try the sweet potato fries and serve them with spicy ketchup or a blend of ketchup and barbecue sauce.
