Trader Joe’s carries a limited number of prepared vegetarian sandwiches and most of these are wrap-style. Unfortunately, all these wraps suffer from too much bread and not enough sauce and therefore receive a 2 pineapple rating.
The spicy lentil is the best of the wraps, because the spiciness provides enough flavor to stand-up to all the bread. However, this sandwich is still way too dry. I understand that making the filling moister would likely lead to soggy bread, but way more tahini sauce is needed to make this palatable. I find that I use all the tahini sauce on half the sandwich and then don’t really want to power through the remaining dry half. In a pinch some salad dressing will help.
Also this sandwich is really bland looking as-is. Add a salad or even just a few cherry tomatoes and some sliced cucumber to brighten the dish. On the upside this sandwich is very filling and one of few sandwiches I can eat half of and be satisfied.
Trader Joe’s offers other variations of this wrap, including falafel, eggplant, and hummus. All suffer from too much bread and dryness.
