Trader Joe’s Middle East Feast (vegan)

middleeastfeastTrader Joe’s Middle East Feast is a satisfying lunch plate. 3 pineapples for this excellent value.

This “feast” contains hummus, tabouli, falafel, pita bread and tahini. It’s too much food (and calories) for one person, but not enough for 2. I usually split this and make a salad with cherry tomatoes, cucumbers, garbanzo beans and kalamata olives to round it out.

My only complaint about this product is that it’s difficult to reheat pita bread or falafel without making them hard and dry. The ideal way to do this would be to wrap them in foil and heat in about 250 degree oven, but I rarely take the time to this. Instead, I pop the pita bread in the toaster and microwave the falafel for about 15 seconds, but I have to eat the falafel right away before it gets hard.

If you’re eating at home, make the effort to arrange this food on a plate and add something colorful like a few cherry tomatoes or sliced cucumber. Then you’ll truly have a feast!
